CATS - Reptile Support Unit Website

Welcome to the website for Cupar Animal Trust Shelter (CATS) Reptile Support Unit (RSU) run by Mandy Liddle.

This unit of the Cupar Animal Trust Shelter is dedicated to the care and welfare of all reptiles. Reptiles are becoming increasingly popular as pets in the home today but unfortunately there are a number of cases where these fascinating reptiles are bought without any real understanding of their health and welfare needs. This can prove disasterous for the reptile concerned and is why organisations such as the Cupar Animal Trust Shelter exist.

Cupar Animal Trust Shelter Reptile Support Unit is dedicated to promoting better understanding of reptiles and their health and welfare needs through educating the public. We do this via a number of different channels including our user forum, community talks and a series of fact sheets and telephone help line to answer questions from reptile owners on care, feeding, behaviour etc.

The Reptile Support Unit is responsible for its own fundraising efforts and raise much needed funds through attending events and receiving donations from the public.

Mandy Says:

"With the rise in the number of people now looking at reptiles as pets we are busier than ever. Unfortunately the public don't realise that there are certain reptiles that just don't make good pets. In addition the public are generally unaware of the amount of care and knowledge needed to care for these reptiles properly.

We work hard in the hope that through our education channels and welfare work we can educate the public and help save as many of the reptiles who have fallen into poor health through these circumstances or simply through neglect lead a better, happier, healthy life.
